“I found it so easy to make new friends when I first came to St. Oswald University,
students and teachers both made me feel so welcome. I am really happy here and enjoy coming to school
every day.” Year 6
“On my first day at SOU, I was paired up with another girl in my class. She had to show me around and
introduce me to other students. We are now the best of friends! I love coming to school and playing
with my friends.” Year 3
“The teachers in the school are friendly and the lessons are always interesting and
fun.” Year 8
“My teacher is the best! She plays awesome music to prompt us so that everyone tidy's up on time. She is
so fun!” Year 5
“The teachers are constantly encouraging me to do my best. It is great knowing that they are there to
help reach my full potential.” Year 10
“House events are great! Our teachers get dressed up in our house colours and wear
funny costumes, which boosts the team spirit. Let’s go Vikings, let’s go!” Year 9
“I enjoyed being part of the student council this year, we were encouraging the school to be more
eco-friendly. Classes were given green marble points for turning the lights off when it wasn’t dark. ”
Year 4
“The atmosphere in the school is so warm and welcoming. I loved going on our
residential trip this year to Yangshuo. It was great being away from home with all of my friends. We
learnt how to be independent, which was cool.” Year 6
“We learnt all about chocolate, it was yummy! It was fun to try lots of chocolate and learn how to make
it. I want to make chocolate when I am big.” Year 1
“SOU has a very friendly atmosphere to it. It has an environment that stimulates people to learn new
things. The one thing that stands out at SOU is that the school has a unique “everyone-knows-everyone”
feel. That has never changed throughout my 6 years at school.” Year 13
“When I arrived at SOU, my English ability was extremely limited. I found it very difficult to understand what was going on in lessons. However, with English lessons and encouragement from both teachers and other students, I persevered and saw dramatic improvements. I am now really confident with my English ability and have immersed myself into many activities within school because of this.” Year 10.
